An old church. A new kind of congregation.
Saint Cate’s is an historic little church on Route 66 in Yukon, Oklahoma, being reimagined as a home for folk art, creative reuse, gathering, and wonderfully unconventional ideas.

What is a Folk Art Cathedral?
Part gallery, part studio, part gathering place—and part ongoing experiment. Saint Cate’s is being brought back to life as a place where old things get new stories, discarded things become art, and people are invited to make, wonder, gather, and belong.
Why Saint Cate's?
The name is a nod to Saint Catherine of Bologna, the patron saint of artists. We shortened her to Cate and gave her an address on Route 66.
Saint Cate’s isn’t about becoming a church again. It’s about honoring what this little building has always been—a place for people to come together—and imagining what that might mean now.
What's coming?
Saint Cate’s is still becoming. The plan is for this little church and its former Sunday school building to grow into a living, changing creative space—home to folk and found-object art, exhibitions, artist projects, workshops, community gatherings, celebrations, and unexpected things we haven’t dreamed up yet.Somewhere along the way, we hope the steeple will become a tiny overnight stay, the sanctuary will host art and gatherings, and the old Sunday school will become a place to get messy— with paint, cardboard, glue, discarded treasures, and people making things.
We’re not finished. That’s part of the story.
